Why Use Reinforcing Mesh?

Steel mesh is a popular choice for concrete. While it is strong, it is also flexible, which makes it very easy to work with.

Generally, non-reinforced concrete is resistant to compression but is weak against tension (apply a force to) and shear (the strain produced by pressure in the structure). Therefore, using steel reinforcement gives concrete the ability to resist shear and tension, which in turn increases the concrete’s tensile strength (the resistance of a material to breaking under tension).

Whilst not all concrete requires reinforcement it should always be used when it comes to concrete that is going to carrying a heavy load – examples include slabs, columns, footings, walls and driveways. This will increase the concrete’s tensile strength by enabling it to hold together, which will limit cracks.

Reinforcing mesh is available in 3 types –Square, Rectangle and Trench. Each has a different use. This means there should be a type for almost any application.

Square Mesh: This mesh is most used to strengthen floor slabs and walls. The size of square mesh sheets is 5.8m, or 6m, x 2.4m, dependent on supplier used.

Rectangle Mesh: This mesh is commonly used when reinforcing thin concrete giving strength when needed in a certain direction. This size of rectangle mesh sheets is 6.0m x 2.4m.

The company is the world’s best Square reinforcing mesh supplier. We are your one-stop shop for all needs. Our staff are highly-specialized and will help you find the product you need.

Trench Mesh: Is available in 4 wire sizes; 8mm, 11mm, 12mm & 16mm. Trench Mesh is commonly used for residential footing trenches, concrete beams and brick wall footing trenches.

Concrete Reinforcing Mesh for Reinforcement of Concrete Structures

Concrete reinforcing mesh with rectangular or square mesh pattern is a kind of welded wire fabric, which can improve the bonding to concrete, minimize the concrete cracking that may occur as a result of concrete shrinkage. And the standard of reinforcing mesh is usually 6 m long × 2.4 m wide. With flat even surface and firm structure, it is used extensively for reinforcement of road surfaces, masonry walls, and concrete structures in building. Besides, it is also can be used as large animal enclosure, quarantine caging, gabion or various fences.

Specifications of concrete reinforcing mesh

  • Material: carbon steel or stainless steel.
  • Surface treatment: galvanized.
  • Type
    • Concrete mesh heavy type (diameter of rods above 10 mm).
    • Light type (diameter of rods from 3 mm up to 10 mm).
  • Mesh shape: rectangular or square.
  • Distance between rods: 100, 200, 300, 400 or 500 mm.
  • Mesh sheet width: 650– mm.
  • Mesh sheet length: 850– mm.
  • Standard reinforcing mesh size: 2 × 4 m, 3.6 × 2 m, 4.8 × 2.4 m, 6 × 2.4 m.

Features of concrete reinforcing mesh

  • High strength, not easy to break.
  • Improve bonding to concrete, minimize concrete cracking.
